Can Atheists Be Parents?

Judge Camarata denied the Burkes' right to the child because of their lack of belief in a Supreme Being. Despite the Burkes' "high moral and ethical standards," he said, the New Jersey state constitution declares that "no person shall be deprived of the inestimable privilege of worshiping Almighty God in a manner agreeable to the dictates of his own conscience." Despite Eleanor Katherine's tender years, he continued, "the child should have the freedom to worship as she sees fit, and not be influenced by prospective parents who do not believe in a Supreme Being."

God, Guns, Guts and American Pick-Up Trucks

You don't have a problem with God, Do you? I'm just curious.

We should fall down prostrating!

The God-damned interwebs ruined all of my fun.

I was going to get all snarky about this:

blah, blah, blah. Preferential treatment of Christians. blah, blah, blah. Lame-ass event name. blah, blah, blah. Christian music as a careerist move for the soul-patched. blah, blah, blah.

But this has been going on at the Six Flags in New jersey for the past several years:

Six Flags, in addition to being a great recreation area, was filled with Allah's praise with the cries of Allahu Akbar everywhere. Young men and women dressed Islamically with sound knowledge of their beliefs and practices represented Islam. The greetings of "Assalaamu Alaikum" were everywhere. Any amount of thanks is but little for the gift, favored honor and guidance that we have received from Allah (SWT).

In thankfulness to Allah, we should fall down prostrating: O Lord! this is nothing but Your Benevolence and Mercy. O Allah! it is Your promise that the one who is thankful receives even more from Your bounties. "la in shakrthum la azeedanna kum".
